Spring 2014 Fashion – A Season of Colorful Equilibrium!

After this long and harsh winter in the US, we are all ready for the colors of spring!

I don’t know about you, but I think Pantone really hit it out of the park with 2014′s Color of the Year – Radiant Orchid. For all of us purple gals, this is the best news!  My favorite way to wear the color of the year – in jewelry!

For some, this bright lavender is just a bit too much in apparel (don’t really know why?) but jewelry is always the perfect way to brighten up your look! Anyway, I thought I would share a little “colorful” inspiration with you as we keep moving deeper into 2014. I really like all the colors although I will admit, some more than others.

Three very adaptable pastels sit on one end of the palette; they can be creatively combined with any other color in the spectrum to create a trendsetting style:

The neutrals, Sand, lightly toasted and warm, and Paloma, a soft warm gray, can be paired with any of the pastels as well as the brights. Pairings of both neutrals will evoke a sophisticated subtle statement.

For those of us who are not afraid of color or calling attention to ourselves, the brights are exciting.  They are perfect companions to pastels, and add confidence and vivacity when mixed with other bold colors.

  • Cayenne, a high-pitched red that adds some spice
  • Freesia, a blazing yellow, tropical, floral-inspired shade
  • Celosia Orange, an optimistic, spontaneous hue
  • Dazzling Blue, a scintillating opposite to Placed Blue
  • Radiant Orchid, a cross between lavender and purple but with a punch!

So play with color – you have my permission to get your hands dirty!

If the pastels are your choice for apparel, at least come up with some new pairings.

If you are shy about the brights, use them as a splash in your jewelry!

Experiment!  You cannot go wrong! Have fun!

And remember, the most inexpensive way to update your wardrobe is with jewelry!

Discover How Your Old Jewelry Can SAVE You Hundreds of Dollars!

So what am I talking about? I know you have old jewelry somewhere – in your jewelry box, in a shoe box, in a handkerchief, that you have not worn in ages, but you just cannot part with!

Is it from a loved one?

From a special occasion?

From a vacation?

Was it a reward for all your hard work?

Had you always just wanted one?

If you answered yes to any one of these questions, then we need to get it out of the box and get you wearing it again!  But you are saying, it is dated or it just isn’t ME anymore. No problem.

Let’s redesign it into the new YOU with your current style in mind!

  • It can be taken apart and put back together with some new stones, beads, gems and different metals (gold, copper, silver, bronze).
  • We can maintain the integrity of the piece but add to it making it more current and trendy.
  • We can take those earrings and make them the focal point of a necklace (who would have thought?).
  • For those pieces from prior generations, we can divide up the components and share the new designs with as many people as you would like, suiting each piece to their personal style.

Case in point, my friend Linda had a necklace from her grandmother – an amazing strand of costume pearls from the 1950s. We designed necklaces for all the 5 women in her family! Each one had some of the pearls as well as additional beads that suited each woman’s style.  They were all beyond thrilled to have some of Grandma to wear with loving pride!

The possibilities are endless!  So don’t let them collect dust any more – get them out for the entire world to see!

AND, better yet, you have an unprecedented conversation starter! Let’s see where that leads!

10 Reasons to Take Inventory of Your Spring/Summer Wardrobe

Now that the polar vortex season is behind us, it is time to see what we need and want in our wardrobe.

  1. Styles have changed since last year. If you are a gal who buys trendy pieces (or even if you didn’t) you just might need/want some new pieces. You don’t want to look like last year – this is 2014!
  2. YOU have changed. So let’s get rid of anything you did not wear last year especially if you don’t love it. There are many people out there who would be thrilled to have your cast offs. Find someone or somewhere to donate the items to.
  3. Colors have changed. The Pantone color of the year is Radiant Orchid – an amazing vibrant color that brings on the best in all of us!  Gotta have something in that color! A trend now is to pair a pastel with a bright. Such fun! (check out the Pantone website for their spring color palette)
  4. Those 2013 impulse buys evoke “what was I thinking?” now. Maybe what you wore with it last year isn’t all that good this year – look at options to pair it will something else.
  5. Just seeing your favorite pieces again will lift your spirits and help you figure what to wear with them this year.
  6. Don’t forget those shoes and sandals.  If they hurt your feet even when you wore them for a short time, come on! We have enough pain in our lives without having more!  Donate!
  7. More room for new things!
  8. Make room to hide whatever snacks you don’t want the kids to find!
  9. Make room for YOU to hide when you just need to get away without leaving home!
  10. 10.   Last but not least – seeing what you have and even what you think you need, look at your JEWELRY wardrobe!  The quickest and least expensive way to update your look is with jewelry.  Maybe that Radiant Orchid is not your color, but a splash of it in earrings or a bracelet could be enough!

And don’t forget those long lost pieces in the jewelry box, shoe box or closet.  Dust ‘em off, show them the light of day, and let’s redesign a new, trendy, 2014 conversation starter!
